A last minute penalty denied Dartford the chance of progressing to the F.A Cup Fourth Qualifying Round on Saturday.

Canvey Island forced a replay in front of 715 spectators at Brockwell Stadium and so the two sides will meet again on Tuesday night at Princes Park.

The Gulls took the lead through ex Dart Danny Heale and held on to a 1-0 lead up to half time. In the second half Elliot Bradbrook equalised for The Darts and Ryan Hayes netted from the spot. However, Canvey Island was awarded a penalty in the last minute, and so Rob King stepped up and held his nerve to take this F.A Cup tie into a replay.

Rob King’s goal prevented Dartford of their eighth consecutive victory against the Ryman Premier League side. Despite being in the hat for the next round and a good record against the Essex outfit Tony Burman will not be taking the replay lightly, “we’ve got to think about beating Canvey at home on Tuesday night and that’s what we will endeavour to do”, he added: “We know Canvey are a good side...we’ve got to do the job on Tuesday night”.

The side from Essex have not managed to avoid defeat at Princes Park over the last three seasons. Last season goals from Danny Harris and Elliot Bradbrook earned Dartford a 2-1 victory. The year before The Darts comfortably won 4-0 with goals from Lee Noble, Adam Flanagan, Rob Haworth and Ryan Hayes.

On Boxing Day in 2007 in front of 1291, Dartford comprehensively beat The Gulls. On that day Steve Norman, Ryan Hayes, Brendon Cass, Jay May, Eddie McClements and Jamie Coyle all netted in a 6-1 victory.
